The potato has long been a staple of Swedish cuisine and continues to play a central role in many traditional dishes. Since its introduction to Swedish gardens in the 17th century, the potato has remained a beloved and versatile ingredient.

Most areas in Sweden experience relatively short growing seasons, making seasonal crops and traditional ingredients like the potato all the more important in local cuisine.
