The Edible Country is a unique Swedish concept that transforms the entire nation into an open air restaurant experience. Renowned chefs were invited to design recipes using ingredients that naturally grow in Sweden’s forests, fields and coastlines. To bring this idea to life, wooden tables were placed in scenic locations across the country, allowing visitors to reserve a spot, gather their own ingredients and prepare a fresh meal directly in nature.
Sweden’s landscapes offer an abundance of edible treasures, including wild berries, mushrooms, nettles and various seasonal greens. These natural ingredients are not only delicious but also deeply connected to the Swedish outdoor lifestyle. Preparing and enjoying food in the open air is considered one of the most authentic ways to connect with the local environment.
Thanks to the Swedish Right of Public Access, everyone is allowed to explore nature freely, forage responsibly and even camp in many areas, provided that the surroundings and private property are treated with respect. This freedom creates the perfect setting for an unforgettable dining experience where nature becomes both the kitchen and the dining room.
