On 30th April, Walpurgis (Valborgsmässoafton) is celebrated all over Sweden to welcome Spring and this is the most cherished Swedish Spring Tradition.
Originally, it was a farewell to the dark, colder months and welcoming lighter days and warmth. Also there is a believe that this will keep evil witches and spirits at away.
On this day evening, people gather to light up a fire, sing spring songs around the bonfire, having fika (Swedish coffee tradition) and enjoy the Walpurgis night with each other.
